Prerequisites:

Age 14+
Lead Certification at East Peak

This course is aimed toward participants with some experience in lead climbing who want to improve and hone their lead climbing and belaying skills.

Participants should be comfortable catching and taking announced falls prior to the course date.

What additional topics are covered in this course?

In the Lead Masterclass, the goal is to refine and improve skills learned in our Learn to Lead Course. We will cover additional clipping methods, catching falls while the climber is close to the ground, alternate methods of giving soft catches, and tons of other pointers and tips to make both you and your climber feel more comfortable pushing your limits.

What should I do to prepare for this course?

Get comfortable taking falls, and focus on your slack management and positioning as a belayer. These are good things to work on all the time anyway, and we'll start the course by making sure no-one is making any belay errors before we get into the meat of the course.

We will cover skills relating to both GriGri and ATC during the course, so it might be worth brushing up on both devices!
